The Bartle League was the top division in action due to Yorkshire Cup matches, and saw pacesetters Tyersal struggle at Oakenshaw.
Tyersal went down heavily, 22-8. There were eight winners for the home team as the leaders' winning run came to an abrupt end.
Oakenshaw's Pat Priestley has been in good form in recent weeks and must be happy with her 21-9 win over Wendy Shimbles. Stewart England also impressed for the home side with his
21-7 win over Tyersal captain Eddie Foster, though the result of the day was Tyersal anchor lady Lynn Noonan's
21-2 win over Ian Haigh - which saved at least three points for her thankful
side.
Brackenhill also recorded a 22-8 home win, beating Lister A. Madelaine Gamble and John Wainwright both produced 21-9 wins on the day for Brackenhill, while Andrew Mackrill was at the top of his game, inflicting a rare 21-15 defeat on Nino Esposito.
Billy Cater was missing from the starting line-up for Royd House as they entertained Rufford B, though they still proved to be too strong, winning the game 18-12.
Royd House bowler Alistair Whitaker won his game 21-2 and in this form must be fancied come the Horton Print Hospital Handicap finals day.
In the Haigh League, Stanningley's Mabel Shaw is in Premiership form this season. She followed up last week's single-figure win with a 21-4 away victory over West Bradford's Philip Bairstow.
However, Stanningley couldn't match last week's heroics and lost the game 17-13, with West Bradford's Henry Lee fighting hard for his 21-15 win.
Armley Cons were rampant at home as Bradford Moor A were despatched with ease 24-6. Paul Arthurs led the way with a 21-4 win and was well supported by John Crampton (21-5), Nigel Partington (21-8) and Eddie Siberry
(21-8).
Bramley Libs B did their promotion chances no harm at all with a 30-0 demolition job over Drighlington B in the Riley League.
Maureen Watkin took the sweep with her 21-5 victory for Bramley, though there were further wins for Ken Stockhill (21-6), Ken Watkin (21-6), Ken Goodwill (21-8) and Norman Wilkinson (21-9) on what was a bad day for Drighlington. Knowles B rattled in eight winners as they sent Troydale packing 26-4. Knowles had Ted King and Steve McLoughlin 21-8 winners, though star of the show was Jeff Moorhouse, who was a magnificent 21-1 winner.
Asa Briggs B had a superb 20-10 win
at Woodside B. Jim Fleming's 21-9 started the rot for Asa and the win was sealed by Joan Fleming, who won 21-8. Asa also had Mark Smith (21-10) in good form.
There was nothing to separate Wibsey B and Eccleshill C at Wibsey Park as the points were shared, though there was a notable win for Michael Sansome who claimed the scalp of Eccleshill star Andy Firth 21-15.
Mark Brooks was a 21-2 winner for Baliff Bridge A as they beat Field Packaging high-fliers Birkenshaw 19-11. Meanwhile, Salts scored an impressive 22-8 home win over Oakenshaw B, thanks in part to wins from Neil Nicholson 21-4, Brian Wright 21-7 and a fine 21-8 win for Tracy Preston.
Mellor League leaders Greengates B showed why they are where they are with an impressive 27-3 home win over Guiseley C.
Bert Harrison showed off his home green knowledge in his 21-7 win and there were 21-9 wins for Dave Keating, Bob Bell and Tony Southern.
Tyersal B produced a solid performance at home to beat West Bradford B, winning 20-10. Florence Woodhead was Tyersal's top scorer winning 21-9. West Bradford's Philip Bairstow faired a lot better away from home, winning 21-11 to narrow the margin of defeat.
Teresa McEvoy was a 21-5 winner for Lister as they entertained Brackenhill B. Lister won the game 18-12 and also had Ken Nichols in fine form, winning 21-6.
Wins for Sylvia Parker (21-8) and S B Smith (21-5) still couldn't prevent Asa Briggs C slipping to a narrow defeat at Wibsey C. An early 21-9 win for Harry Wrigley helped Wibsey out a little, though the best was saved until last as anchorman Ken Dufton swung the game Wibsey's way with a 21-4 victory.
Asa Briggs A look certain to do the league and cup double this year after easily disposing of Wyke at a tricky Oakenshaw green in the Haworth Cup.
Wyke had a 30-point start on Asa, though that lead had gone after the first three blocks, with Gary Whelan a 21-5 winner.
Asa Briggs never looked back, registering all ten winners and ending the game with a victory margin of 54 points.
Wibsey A are also through to the next round after seeing off a resilient Bradford Moor A side.
Wibsey won by 14 points after turning around an initial 20-point handicap, though much of that was thanks to Nigel Wormald, who produced a stunning 21-1 result.
Bowling Park, who usually do well in the cup competitions, saw this year's run come to an end at the hands of
Peel B.
The Bradford Moor green should have suited Bowling, though only Steve Riddell could return a winning card for them on the night.
Donald Firth was at his energetic best, beating James Dennison 21-11, and he saw his Peel B side go through by 19 points.
Oakenshaw A deserve their place in the next round after a fine win over Crowghyll at Brackenhill. With only five points separating the teams at the start, it suggested a close battle. However, Oakenshaw rattled through the early blocks with a 21-6 win for Andrew Jacobs and Stewart England's 21-7. Crowghyll never recovered and Oakenshaw went through by 47 points.
