A business which specialises in transforming paper records into electronic images is to expand its Bradford operation with a move into a prestigious Victorian mill conversion.
Hugh Symons plc will move to its new base at the Albion Mills business complex in Greengates this summer, alongside historic menswear company Greenwoods.
The move follows a rapid expansion of the company's Information Management division which has had its northern headquarters in Bradford for the last four years.
The Dorset-based company moved to the city after clinching a deal with Calderdale health authority to translate millions of documents into electronic form.
The firm started out with 12 staff in Bradford but that is expected to more than double with the move as a result of new business wins, particularly in the public sector.
It will occupy the lower ground floor of the new £2 million Jade Building development which has been created by Paul Speak Business Centres Ltd, owners of the Albion Mills complex.
Peter Wilson information management managing director at Hugh Symons, said he was pleased to be expanding at the site.
"It is a good location for us with good communications and close to the motorway network," he said.
"Because we are quite a labour intensive business, it is also important to have a good supply of labour nearby."
Paul Hanson, property director for Paul Speak Business Centres, said he was delighted by the interest being shown in the development.
He said there were plans to add a retail development and café at the site.
"The Jade Building offers quality, flexible office space at a great value and it has already proved itself to be an attractive location," he said.
"We have leased two of the five floors in the past six months and that was before undertaking any serious marketing. Interest in the building remains strong and we are looking forward to announcing our next occupier soon."
Work is still being carried out at the site of the development with a final completion date set for September this year.
