New managers at country hostelry

From the archive, first published Friday 29th Dec 2006.

A 17th century Tennant Arms Hotel at Kilnsey, near Skipton, is under new management after going into administration earlier this year.

Douglas and Charlotte Hatfield, who left Skipton four years ago when they bought a chateau in Brittany and turned it into a successful restaurant and conference centre, are now managing the hotel on behalf of the administrators and are likely to become its new owners early in the New Year.

Mr Hatfield and his wife Charlotte ran Brody's Bar & Bistro and Sam Houston's restaurant bar, both in Skipton, before they moved to France four years ago.

Mr Hatfield said: "The pub has always had a great reputation for its food and we are just going to keep serving traditional British food made from local produce."

Administrators PKF said that contracts had already been exchanged on the deal and they expected completion next month.
