People are being invited to capture a moment from the first day of 2007 in a photograph.
They will be included in a fascinating new photographic exhibition reflecting 12 months of national and international events at Bradford Industrial Museum.
The exhibition - called The Press Photographer's Year by British Press Photographers' Association (BPPA) - features 150 photographs all capturing international events from 2005, ranging from London's euphoric Olympic bid celebrations to the horrific aftermath of the South Asian tsunami.
Part of the exhibition features a projection of images taken by BPPA members over the first 24 hours of 2005 for a web gallery.
The photographs form a fascinating document, with images ranging from the tragedy of the immediate aftermath of the tsunami to the spectacle of fireworks over the London Eye and the mundane nature of family life.
The entire exhibition comprises the complete edit of 157 photographs from the Press Photographer's Year competition. Many images are iconic, almost synonymous with the event itself, others never made it into print and are therefore seen for the first time.
The images span from the July 7 bombings to the Pakistan earthquake, Royal weddings to civil partnership ceremonies, the England Ashes win to the death of the Pope."
The exhibition opened at Bradford Industrial Museum this weekend.
To create a special addition to the exhibition, the museum wants the public to get snapping and submit their own New Year's Day images.
"The photographs can be of anything but they must be taken on New Year's Day," said Bradford Industrial Museum's collections officer Michael Callaghan. "People can submit their photos to us, in any format, any time during the month following January 1.
" We will include them in a montage which will go on display during a family day at the museum on January 28. The images should be an interesting reflection of how Bradford spent the first day of 2007."
The British Press Photographer's Year is the culmination of a competition showcasing the best press photography of 2005. The images include:
A man leaving the scene of the explosion at Edgeware Road underground station following the terrorist attacks on July 7, 2005

The Press Photographer's Year runs at Bradford Industrial Museum from Friday to February 4, 2007. For more details about submitting New Year's Day photographs ring Maggie Pedley or Michael Callaghan at the museum on (01274) 435900.
