Colin Todd tipped City to finally start heading in the right direction again after notching their first league win since September.
The Bantams ended their worrying seven-game drought by seeing off bottom club Leyton Orient 2-1 last night.
Well-taken goals from Eddie Johnson - his first since August - and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson gave Todd's side the perfect lift ahead of two more London trips to face Millwall in the league and FA Cup.
Todd said: "It's a great boost for us all. I've been saying all along that we just need to get back to doing the correct things and the results will come.
"I still think our possession has to be better once we get into the opposition half and we have to be able to dictate games but I thought it was a well-deserved victory. We made a lot of changes but did fine.
"It wasn't going to be easy just because Orient are bottom of the table but I thought we controlled the second half. We probably should have had a third goal because we were the only ones who looked like scoring."
City lost Lee Holmes before the game with a recurrence of his ankle injury. And David Wetherall had to quit before half-time after a nasty crack of heads with Mark Bower.
But City are hopeful their ever-present skipper will be fit to play at the New Den on Saturday.
"He's got a haematoma above the eye but I think he'll be all right," added Todd. "There were no stitches but he might have a real shiner and we'll have a look first.
"We had to come through a bit of adversity with the skipper going off injured and Holmesy not making it. But overall we defended well and I was pleased with Matt Clarke coming in. Tommy Black got his chance for Lee Holmes and he did well. You can see he will get there as he plays more games.
"The two strikers showed good movement although they've got to hold it up better and Bridge-Wilkinson was super back in his familiar role.
"The goals were excellent and came from playing good football. Now we've got to produce that more often."
City, who had picked up only two points from their previous 21, moved up a place to 14th with their third away success.
And despite still being in the bottom half, they are currently three points nearer the play-offs than the bottom four.
Fans who travelled on the official City supporters' coach were treated to free admission for the game after the players gave up their complimentary tickets.
