Man faces murder charge

From the archive, first published Friday 26th Jan 2007.

A 25-year-old Bradford man is due to appear in court today charged with the murder of restaurant worker Shazad Hussain.

The man was extradited from Luxembourg yesterday and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old father-of-four Mr Hussain in September 2004.

Mr Hussain was shot dead as he sat in his car in an alleyway off Leeds Road in the early hours of the morning.

He was married with a three-year-old daughter at the time and the couple's second child was born ten days after his death. He had two children from a previous marriage.

The arrested man was due to appear before Bradford magistrates. Mohammed Niaz Khan, of Wensleydale Road, Thornbury, and Abdul Wahid Rehman, of St Paul's Road, Manningham, both 25, have already been charged with murder and are due to face trial at Leeds Crown Court next month.

Also awaiting trial are Abid Ashiq Hussain, 25, of Rushton Terrace, Thornbury, who is accused of aiding and abetting murder and perverting the course of justice, and Mohammed Ghaffar, 34, of Thornbury Drive, Thornbury, and Mark Daniel Jones, 23, of Peterborough Road, Under-cliffe, who are charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
