State-of-the-art flats 'approved'

From the archive, first published Friday 26th Jan 2007.

A state-of-the-art three-storey block of flats for elderly people has been approved in principle by planners.

Anchor Trust has been given permission to demolish a residential care home at Greenlands, Shakespeare Road, Guiseley, and replace it with 62 flats with communal facilities and car parking.

The new homes will be designed for older and more dependent residents, and will be sold on a lease-hold basis.

The Leeds Plans Panel West has agreed to defer and delegate approval of the scheme, pending further discussions about pedestrian accessibility, boundary treatment, a water pipe issue and matters relating to a flood risk assessment.
