New homes get go-ahead

From the archive, first published Friday 26th Jan 2007.

A plan to replace a detached bungalow with two semi-detached houses in a conservation area has been given the green light by planners.

The scheme, put forward by Addingham-based developer Croft Building Limited, involves a small site at 15A Wheatley Avenue, Ben Rhydding, Ilkley.

Despite 15 letters of objection, the Keighley Area Planning Committee approved the plan after a report said the new houses would fit in better with the surrounding properties than the existing bungalow.

The developers have agreed to artificially blacken the stone they are using to mimic the weathering on existing houses in the cul-de-sac.
