Spring facelift for gardens

From the archive, first published Tuesday 20th Mar 2007.

Visitors to Darwin Gardens in Ilkley this spring will be able to see improvements to the award-winning attraction.

A £4,000 grant from Ilkley Parish Council, a similar amount from landfill tax credit organisation Yorventure and almost £400 from Keighley Community Chest have allowed the Darwin Gardens Trust to make improvements to visitor access and safety at the gardens, at the top of Wells Road.

Previously worn-out sections of the main pathways have been relaid or resurfaced, timber bollards have been put in place around the car park and work is about to be carried out to complete a waterside walkway, using recycled plastic material.
