Police hunting 'firearms suspect'

Reports of a man wanted for serious firearms offences sparked an armed police response.

Armed officers were called on Sunday night after they received information that a man wanted for serious firearms offences was possibly at an address in the Valley Road area of Shipley.

Inspector Owen West said: "A firearms operation was mounted and officers conducted a thorough and methodical search of the premises with firearms support. The suspect was not located and enquiries to trace him are still ongoing."

The Telegraph & Argus reported the operation on Monday. But police initially kept tight-lipped about the purpose for the armed presence.
