Skipton residents are breathing a sigh of relief after the Council rejected plans for a smoking terrace near their homes.
Homeowners living at the back of Strata nightclub, on Keighley Road, leapt into action after Luminar Leisure lodged a planning application to build a patio for smokers only metres from their houses.
They wrote letters of objection to Craven District Council's planning department and also gathered names on a signature.
The residents, mainly from Devonshire Place and Castle Street, disputed the club's claims the 58-metre square patio was "remote", pointing out it would be only five metres away from some properties.
They said the terrace would bring extra noise and litter and could restart a past problem of people using the back doors to gain free entry to the club.
Craven District Council has now rejected the plans.
