Grill sparks blaze

A kitchen fire started by an over-heated grill caused heavy smoke damage.

But a spokesman from Brighouse fire station said the blaze, which happened at a home in High Street, Brighouse, could have been much worse if it had not been tackled with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived.

The four occupants were uninjured in the fire on Saturday morning.
