Shipley's unsung heroes will be celebrated at an awards ceremony tomorrow night.

Winners of the Shipley Area Community Heroes Awards, for people who have made a significant contribution to the area, will receive their awards at Victoria Hall, Saltaire.

Shipley area co-ordinator Chris Flecknoe said: "This is a great opportunity to celebrate some of the people who work so hard as volunteers within our community and give them the recognition they deserve."

People were invited to nominate residents who had made a significant contribution to their community.

Presentation plaques will be given to two adults and one young person from the community heroes in recognition of their exceptional contribution to the community.

They will each be awarded £100 to go to a local community organisation of their choice.

The event will also be used to launch the Shipley Make a Difference project which will see Volunteering Bradford working with the Area Co-ordinator's Office to promote the recruitment of volunteers across the Shipley area.
