Girl power at studio

From the archive, first published Monday 5th Mar 2007.

It will be a case of girl power' when budding female stars show off their talents to mark International Women's Day on Thursday.

The performers, aged between 11 and 21, from across the district will entertain a female-only audience at Bradford Alhambra Studio from 6pm to 9pm.

Up to 15 youngsters involved with Bradford Council's Youth Service and Bradford and Keighley Youth Parliament have teamed up for the first time to stage the event, which will celebrate women's achievements.

Audience members will also be encouraged to get involved in a quiz on influencial women.

Youth service participation worker, Debra Peters, said: "The audience will have the chance to see their peers perform as well as learn about important women in our history, socialise and have a dance. It promises to be a fantastic evening."

Free tickets for the event can be booked from Sam Beck on (01274) 431849 or e-mail sam.beck2@bradford.gov.uk.
