Build a bridge for science week

A country park is inviting children to join a bridge-making event as part of a science week.

Children aged eight to 12 are invited to Oakwell Hall Country Park, Birstall, on Saturday from 10am to noon, to build a bridge out of timber poles and rope, capable of taking two people across a stream.

The event is part of Watch, a national initiative aimed at involving young people in projects to learn about and enjoy the natural environment.

All Oakwell's Watch events are free but booking is essential.

Suitable outdoor clothing is necessary.
