Salon sofa sparks alert

Fire crews were called out to deal with a sofa on fire at a hair salon in Bradford Road, Riddlesden.

The sofa had begun to give off smoke due to heat from a nearby lamp.

The alarm was raised by a passer-by who spotted the smoke.

Firefighters forced entry to the property, moved the sofa and cut away the heat-affected part of the furnishing.

Two crews from Keighley Fire Station attended the incident, shortly after 6pm yesterday.
