Flooding could sink homes plan

From the archive, first published Wednesday 18th Apr 2007.

Skipton Town Council has recommended planning officers cast their minds back to 1979 when determining an application for land opposite 59-71 Otley Road, Skipton.

Developers want to build nine houses, with off-road parking, on the site.

The town council's planning committee has objected to the plans, stating: "The committee is concerned that the flood risk to the properties and parked cars is too great.

"The committee would suggest the planning officers check the effects of flooding in this area in 1979 when floating cars caused significant problems."

The plans will now be passed to Craven District Council for determination.
