Bus services cut

From the archive, first published Wednesday 18th Apr 2007.

Changes to bus services in South Craven are due to go ahead from Sunday.

Despite opposition from parish and county councillors, Keighley and District Buses has confirmed its decision to withdraw its A66 and A66A early morning, early evening, night time and Sunday services from Cononley.

The bus company has also decided that the two services, which run between Keighley and Skipton, will no longer run into the centre of Kildwick.

The changes have been heavily criticised by parish and county councillors who claim they will hit the elderly and young who rely on public transport.

The bus company has blamed the cut in services on the low number of passengers and difficulties with the route and said passengers had been consulted.
