Website is launched to promote participation

West Yorkshire Sport have launched a new website to promote participation in physical activity across the region.

www.westyorkshiresport.co.uk is the address and visitors to the site can easily access information on coaching, local sports clubs and contact information for a wide range of sporting activities, sports education and courses, as well as the latest regional sports news and details of local sporting and leisure facilities.

Nigel Harrison, director of West Yorkshire Sport, believes that a strong web presence is essential for encouraging more people to become involved in sport and active recreation.

He said: "Participation in sport at all levels is a key message that we want to send out via the website - whether it is finding a club to join, volunteering to drive a team bus or qualified coaches looking for a club.

"All the information is on the website, and a look at the latest news there makes you realise just how many sporting opportunities there are available, and it will help us and our partners to bring sport and the local community closer and increase participation in sport and physical education by one per cent each year."
