Summer roadworks warning

Highways bosses have chosen the summer school holidays to carry out major roadworks at the heart of a busy town.

People living and running businesses in the area of Commerical Street and Briggate, Shipley, have been sent letters telling them about the plans for the work which is scheduled to start on Friday, July 20, and end on September 2.

In a bid to ease some congestion, the works will be halted over the peak Bank Holiday Weekend starting on August 27.

At other times, local diversion routes will be set up and signposted.

The disruption will allow for repair and resurfacing work as well as maintenance on Shipley Bridge which crosses Commercial Street, Otley Road and Briggate.
