Wait goes on for voters

Bradford Council has still not published details of candidates standing in next month's elections.

The deadline for nominations was noon on Wednesday, but the council says it will now be after the Easter weekend before details can be revealed.

Most neighbouring local authorities published their information on Wednesday afternoon. Craven District Council's list was emailed to the Keighley News just half an hour after the nomination deadline passed.

Bradford's elections unit said yesterday afternoon that legally it did not have to release the information until next week.

One third of Bradford Council's 90 seats will be up for grabs on May 3. Wards where elections are taking place include Bingley Rural, Craven, Keighley Central, Keighley East, Keighley West and Worth Valley.
