Driving charges admitted

From the archive, first published Tuesday 12th Feb 2008.

A lorry driver who hit a kerb, mounted a verge, bounced across the road and scuffed the side of a car has admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to give a specimen of breath.

The lorry, driven by Andrew Bradley, 41, of Cawder Road, Skipton, also careered down a side road and hit a wall, Bingley magistrates heard.

Magistrates were told yesterday Bradley had been driving in Keighley Road, Denholme, on February 4, and when spoken to by police did not provide a roadside alcohol test.

Later at the police station he failed to provide a breath sample, despite four attempts.

Paul Fitzpatrick, for Bradley, said he had been sacked by his employers, Winterburns of Skipton.

The bench adjourned making a decision until March 4 and asked for a pre-sentence report.
